Important notice for all field trips!

We love having people on our trips. However, what we do can sometimes be dangerous if we are not careful. You are strongly advised to read the full Field Trip rules: Field Trip Rules.

Here are some key highlights to remember:

The rules will be presented again in full before the trip begins.


Meetings are held at the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum in Ishpeming. Doors open at 1:00 to allow visitors time to check out our mineral collection displays.

Program Meeting
February 19th, 2023

Cliffs Shaft @ 1:30pm

Mary Ann St. Antoine, an Environmental Quality Analyst for the State of Michigan and upcoming Field Geology Instructor at Lake Superior State University will define Field Geology and speak to the club on “Field Geology in the United States.”

There will be snacks, door prizes and a silent auction, followed by the club business meeting.

March 19th, 2023

Cliffs Shaft @ 1:30pm

Trenton Hills, Lab Operations Manager, SGS North America-Eagle Mine will speak on "The Assay process in Mining -- the chemical analysis determining the proportion of metallic or non-metallic elements in a sample of geologic material.

There will be snacks, door prizes and a silent auction, followed by the club business meeting.

IRMC Annual Silent Auction and Meeting
April 16, 2023

Cliffs Shaft @ 1:30pm

Mineral specimens from the local area, Upper Peninsula and beyond, donated by members and de-accessioned from the Club’s collection will be available to purchase through the silent auction process.

There will be snacks and door prizes, followed by the club business meeting.
